The Limestone Coast Landscape Board has formally commenced the review of the Water Allocation Plan for the Tintinara Coonlapyn Prescribed Wells Area. Under the Landscape South Australia Act 2019, a water allocation plan must be reviewed on a comprehensive basis at least once in every ten years. The review process is focusing on evaluating the current Plan to decide if it is still fit for managing the water resource.
The Prescribed Wells Area includes the townships of Tintinara and Coonalpyn and supports more than 100 water licences across a diverse range of industries. To support the review process and provide critical local knowledge a Stakeholder Advisory Group has been established and has commenced meeting regularly.
“The Tintinara Coonalpyn Water Allocation Plan is critical for managing the sustainability of water resources in our local landscape. This review offers an opportunity for water users to ensure their Plan can continue to manage the resource into the future.” said Dr. Jonathan Sobels, Chair of the Tintinara Coonalpyn Water Allocation Plan Stakeholder Advisory Group.
Community sessions and engagement opportunities will be held in the Tintinara, Coonalpyn and Keith district through the month of October 2025. The Limestone Coast Landscape Board encourages all water licence holders and community members to come along to hear more about the review process.
