Lime application on lucerne on sandy soils Western Flat field day

Farmers, land managers and service providers are invited to our Lime application on lucerne on sandy soils Western Flat field day. Come and see the progress of lucerne establishment through lime application on sandy soils at the Western Flat trial site.

Event details

Date: Tuesday 24 March 2026.

Time: 9:30 am – 11:00 am (morning tea provided).

Location: Trial site on Beeamma-Parsons Road

Getting there:

  • If you are accessing Beeamma-Parsons Road from the Riddoch Highway entrance at Padthaway, the trial site is approximately 15 km along Beeamma-Parsons Road and will be on your left.
  • If you are accessing Beeamma-Parsons Road from the Naracoorte Bordertown Road, the trial site is approximately 4.7km along Beeamma-Parsons Road and will be on your right.

What is involved:

  • See the progress of lucerne establishment through lime application at the Western Flat trial site.
  • Guided observation from Brian Hughes (PIRSA) on the trial in general, the pH of the clay and interpretation of the soil test results from this trial site so far.
  • Hear from Adam Hancock (Elders) on soil acidity issues in this region, the establishment of lucerne and treatments incorporated at this trial site.
