Young Environmental Leaders Program

Supporting young minds to experience nature in the Limestone Coast

The Limestone Coast Landscape Board’s Young Environmental Leader Program (YELP) provides students with hands on environmental experiences, project work and leadership development.

Program details

Open to students in years 5 and 6, with a maximum of four students per school.

Students meet four times over the school year including an overnight camp at the Naracoorte Caves that focusses on outdoor learning and connection to nature.

Young Environmental Leaders will work on a sustainability project of their choice and present this to their peers at the final YELP Expo held in Term 4.

Students involved in this program gain knowledge of their local landscape, share ideas and network with students from other schools. They will also receive mentoring from the Landscape Education team.

"YELP inspires the next generation to be stewards of the environment and care for our region".
- Julian Rebellato, St Anthony’s Catholic Primary School
