The Limestone Coast Landscape Board is reflecting on the incredible success of the educational event March in May for 2025. This event would not be possible without the support, assistance and time of incredible volunteers Friends of Beachport and Canunda Parks and Friends of Shorebirds South East. Their unwavering commitment, generous spirit and tireless energy have been the heart and soul of the March in May event. Along with the other collaborating organisations National Parks and Wildlife Service and Burrandies Aboriginal Corporation, the event has grown over the past two decades into the cherished landscape learning event it is today.

Damien Bickley, Landscape Educator from the Limestone Coast Landscape Board said,” it simply would not be possible to run an event of this magnitude with over 150 students participating every year without the support of the groups involved.”

“We really appreciate the hard work and dedication of the Friends of Beachport and Canunda Parks and the Department for Environment and Water in preparing Canunda National Park for school visits. Thanks also to the volunteers at each education station who worked alongside staff from the Limestone Coast Landscape Board, National Parks and Wildlife Service, and Burrandies Aboriginal Corporation.” Damien said.

It seems fitting in National Volunteers week to recognise the work and effort that goes on behind the scenes to ensure that March in May is an exciting learning experience for all the school students involved.

The Limestone Coast Landscape Board looks forward to continuing this event in collaboration with our partner organisations for many years to come.
