Farmers and land managers are already being asked to produce data relating to greenhouse gas emissions from their farm and may be feeling the pressure to reduce GHG emissions. The information available in this space is evolving rapidly and can be overwhelming.

Commencing early 2025, through the Carbon Farming Outreach Program, the Limestone Coast Landscape Board will be running regional workshops to prepare local farmers and land managers for impending changes to greenhouse gas (GHG) reporting requirements. The demands of the mandatory GHG reporting requirements will begin impacting farming business from July 2026 through your supply chain.

“These workshops are an important first step for anyone struggling to understand where to start to reduce GHG emissions from farm and how to record it. After the workshops, farmers and land managers should be able to make informed decisions relating to the carbon farming opportunities on their farm.”

“It is important for the economic growth of the Limestone Coast that farmers and Land Managers know what to expect through their supply chains. “Arming yourself with this knowledge will ensure you remain competitive in your supply chain,” said Edel.

“During these workshops we will discuss how this can impact the economic success of your farming enterprise and our region. We will take a look over the fence through some local carbon farming case studies. We will step you through how to calculate carbon emissions from your farm and your options to participate in the carbon market and become certified carbon neutral.”

Subsequent workshops throughout the region will drill down on topics of most interest to farmers and land managers.

The introductory workshops are being held throughout the Limestone Coast - Mount Gambier, Kalangadoo, Naracoorte, Kingston and Bordertown.
