As part of the State Government’s $73 million Drought Support Package, $0.76 million has been provided to manage wild rabbits. In partnership with regional landscape boards, PIRSA is offering rabbit control in drought impacted regions. The “Bunnies, Bait, and Breakfast BBQ” will provide details on the following assistance that is available to farmers:

  • Free warren ripping completed by a contractor.
  • Reimbursement for farmers time warren ripping using their own equipment.
  • Free 1080 oat bait to be laid in accordance with the label before and after ripping.
  • Free calici virus – if there are rabbits still susceptible in the area following poisoning and ripping.

At the breakfast, farmers will be able to learn more about the program, order bait, sign-up for access to ripping contractors and learn about best practice baiting and ripping methods.
